When the local Melbourne founders of Damona set out to create a dairy free cheese brand, they had a number of boxes that had to be ticked in order for the product to live up to their own plant based satisfaction standards. The dairy-free cheeses that they produced had to be: • hand made by people that care and love what they’re doing; • come in a great range of flavours and styles;

• do well on a cheese board; • have all the right flavours; • taste a way that that everyone can enjoy them (even dairy cheese lovers); and finally, it had to be able to melt! Yep, that’s pretty much all the things that cheese should be, and trust us when we say that Damonda has succeeded in creating one hell of a vegan cheese range. With more beauty awards than you can poke a stick at, Ecotan is Australia’s first certified organic tanning product manufacturer. We all should know by now that tanning in UV rays is ridiculously stupid and can lead to horrific skin cancer and melanoma. Primarily a Gluten Free brand (obvs) the ‘Gluten Free Food Co’ has got a pretty stellar lineup of vegan products, including their infamous Mac & Cheese. Just add water, cook and enjoy the journey to comfort food heaven.

H IS FOR HEMP FOODS AUSTRALIA

M IS FOR MIIRO ICE CREAM

Butter, arguably a tough one to abstain from as a vegan… Until you try Noya Nut Butter. Made by the Royal Nut Company, Noya Nut Butters taste as good as they look (and they look good AF).

P IS FOR PRIMASOY TEMPEH

Tempeh is a highly nutritious soy product which is very popular in its country of origin, Indonesia.

Tempeh is made from Soy Beans and a brilliant source of vegan protein.

Good quality tempeh should be firm, dense and covered with white mycelium. It should have a pleasant, clean, subtly sweet or mushroom-like aroma.

It may be fried, deep fried, grilled, braised, steamed or boiled. Cooked on its own without seasoning, tempeh has a nutty, mushroom taste.

When seasoned however, tempeh will readily accept the flavours of the seasonings it is cooked in.

Suzy Spoon started her business after discovering that a lot of vegan products available in supermarkets were tasteless, rubbery and highly processed.

Her range of 100% plant based products are definitely a welcomed antidote to the bland and texturally challenging vegan products on the market.
